MNRB Holdings Berhad in collaboration with the Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII) invites qualified Malaysian insurance professionals to apply for the MNRB Scholarship.

Through this scholarship, shortlisted candidates can pursue the Associateship of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (AMII) Level 1 or Level 2 professional qualification. 

*This scholarship is also open to brokers, adjusters, Reinsurance, Insurance Associations and other organisations in the Insurance industry.

Qualifying Criteria

  • The scholarship is open to qualified staff in the insurance industry in Malaysia including Brokers, Adjusters, Reinsurance, Insurance Associations and other organizations in the Insurance industry.
  • The scholarship for AMII Level 1 and AMII level 2 is open to new students who fulfil the following minimum entry requirements.

Base Requirements for AMII Level 1 Scholarship

  • Passed STPM/A-Level or higher qualification which is recognized by the Malaysian Government or from a recognised Professional Body; or
  • Passed the Certificate of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (CMII); or
  • Passed Certificate in Insurance from The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), United Kingdom (must be certified true copy)

Base Requirements for AMII Level 2 Scholarship

  • Obtained AMII Level 1
Note:
(a) Students with a recognised qualification in the relevant field will be given credit exemptions based on past results and portfolio review (where applicable).
(b) Any other qualifications will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
(c) MII’s selection committee reserves the right to accept or reject any application.

SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE

  • The proposed scholarship will cover the following:
    • 50% of the programme fee which includes tuition fee or exemption fee (if exemption application is approved), examination fee and study text.
    • Full fee of a one-time student registration fee;
    • Full fee of a one-time MII Membership joining fee; and
    • Full MII annual membership fee
Note: The remaining 50% of the programme fee is to be borne by the student or the student’s employer.

  • The total programme fee covered by the scholarship for year 2023/2024 is estimated at:
    • AMII Level 1 – RM5,250 per student for 6 subjects
    • AMII level 2 – RM8,480 per student for 8 subjects

  • The Associateship of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (AMII) is an exclusive professional qualification programme tailored to the needs of the insurance industry and industry professionals.
  • This qualification is a preferred requirement for career progression and leadership positions within the insurance industry.
  • The AMII is the only accredited professional programme customised for the local insurance industry and is the favoured programme by insurance companies and professionals in the ASEAN region.
  • This qualification programme provides individuals with the necessary technical knowledge and practical skills at an operational level, as well as equips those who are looking to build a career in a technical, supervisory, or managerial role.

ACCREDITATION AND RECOGNITION

  • AMII is accredited by The Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA).
  • AMII is recognised by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), UK whereby a student can obtain a maximum of 210 credits from AMII to be applied towards the CII qualification (depending on the terms and conditions of the CII qualification framework).
  • AMII is also recognised by The Australian New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF). AMII graduates who have:
    • completed the Associateship of Malaysian Insurance Institute Level 1 is eligible to apply for the ANZIIF Associate membership.
    • completed the Associateship of Malaysian Insurance Institute Level 2 is eligible to apply for the ANZIIF Senior Associate membership.
    • attained the Fellowship of Malaysian Insurance Institute and have been an ANZIIF CIP member for two consecutive years will be eligible to apply for the ANZIIF Fellow membership.

Syllabus and Assessment Structure

The AMII Level 1 and Level 2 programme constitutes an enhanced syllabus of local content and practices, as well as assessments that consist of coursework (assignment and tests – 40%), case studies and final examination (60%) that tests the application of both academic and on-the-job experience.

 
Completion Requirement

  • Students are required to complete AMII Level 1 (18 credits / 6 subjects) before enrolling to AMII Level 2.
  • Students are required to complete AMII Level 2 (32 credits / 8 subjects) to fulfil the AMII completion requirement.
  • Student must meet the completion eligibility criteria at the time of completion of the AMII
  • A total of 50 credits are required to complete AMII Level 1 and Level 2.


Subject Exemption

  • Subject exemption may be awarded for prior learning (qualification related) by applying the exemption for the related subject(s) with the necessary supporting documents.
  • 3 credits per subject for AMII Level 1 and 4 credits per subject for AMII Level 2 may be awarded if it complies with the exemption requirements.


Class Intake:

  • February intake – Final Examination session in May
  • June intake - Final Examination session in September
  • October intake - Final Examination session in January

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURES

  • The CEO/ Regional Manager/ Head of Department must approve the application for this scholarship of the company.
  • Only short-listed candidates will be required to undergo an assessment and interview session with MII.
  • Short-listed candidates will be notified via email.
