:: INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES :: (Rules to be adhered to in the Examination Hall) READ CAREFULLY ANY BREACH OF THE INSTRUCTIONS RULES, REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES OF THE EXAMINATION MAY RESULT IN i) YOUR DISQUALIFICATION NOT ONLY IN RESPECT OF THE EXAMINATION YOU ARE SITTING FOR BUT ALSO FOR APERIOD OF YEARS OR EVEN INDEFINITELY. ii) THE WITHDRAWAL, WITHHOLDING OR INVALIDATING OF YOUR RESULTS OR CERTIFICATE AT ANY TIME; AND iii)ANY OTHER SANCTION OR ACTION AGAINST YOU AS THE INSTITUTE DEEMS FIT AND PROPER. 1. Do not write or mark anything on your Examination Entry Permit. Remember to bring your Examination Entry Permit and Identity Card to the examination room. Failure to do so will bar you from the Examination. 2. Be ready to take your seat in the examination room before the commencement of the examination. The Institute reserves the right to disallow you from taking the examination if you are not present after half an hour from the schedule time fixed for the commencement of the examination session, that is stated in your examination entry permit. 3. Your Candidate Examination Number (CEN) for this examination series appears as item 1 in your examination entry permit. This number must be written on your objective answer sheet, the question book and your attendance form B. You must complete the details on the objective answer sheet. Attendance form B and question book, and detach and place the attendance form B together with your identity card on your left hand side of your desk, even if you decide not to take the examination. A Presiding Official will collect the attendance form B. 4. You must obey all the instructions, directions and rulings of the Presiding Official. 5.a) You must not take into the examination room or consult in any way or utilise there, any book, document or other written, typed or printed matter (including the envelope containing the candidate’s examination entry permit as well as the detached “Instructions to Candidates”) except your Entry Permit, Identity Card, question book, your objective answer sheet and any other items provided by the Presiding Officials in connection with the examination. b) In the case of change of address, please write a letter regarding the changes and send it together with the examination entry permit immediately AFTER the examination to: The Manager, The Examinations Department, The Malaysian Insurance Institute, No. 5, Jalan Sri Semantan Satu, Damansara Heights, 50490 Kuala Lumpur. c) Rough work must not be done on the entry permit (see paragraph 11d below). d) You must not converse or in any way communicate with or willingly receive communication from any other person except the Presiding Official during the examination. e) You must not read or attempt to read the work of any other candidates. f) You must not temporarily leave the examination room, except in the case of urgent necessity when you must be accompanied by a Presiding Official. g) You must not bring into the examination room any transmitting or receiving equipments eg. Handphones, pager or palm tops. h) You must conduct ethically and professionally at all times at the examination. 6. Candidates must raise their hand if they wish to attract the attention of Presiding Official. 7. The use of slide rules or silent battery operated calculators will be permitted in the examination room. However, programmable calculators or calculators with an alphabetic keyboard or display CANNOT be used. You must place your slide rule or calculator on the top of your desk at the commencement of the examination and keep it in view of the Presiding Officials throughout the whole examination. 8. Smoking in the examination room is strictly prohibited. 9.a) Place your Entry Permit and your Identity Card on the left hand side of your desk throughout the examination. The Institute reserves the right to retain your entry permit. b) The Institute reserves the right to ask for any other proofs of identity at any time during or after the examination. This includes the taking of thumb prints and photographs. c) No candidate is allowed to sit for the examination, if he/she cannot produce his/her Identity Card or other approved statutory declaration of identity nor will he/she be allowed to sit if no entry permit is produced. 10. Question books will be distributed not more than 5 minutes before the time fixed for the session to start. Do not begin writing until instructed to do by a Presiding Official. 11. You will be given an objective answer sheet. On this: a) Insert your candidate examination number as given on your Entry Permit, and any other particulars required on the objective answer sheet. b) Take care to give the full and correct candidate examination number. c) Only 2B pencils must be used to shade the objective answer sheet. d) All rough work must be done on the Question Book supplied by the Presiding Officials. 12. You will not be permitted to withdraw from the Examination Room until half an hour after the time fixed for the session to begin: if you wish to do so after the half an hour has expired, hand your objective answer sheet, question book and attendance form (duly completed) to the Presiding Official and leave the room as quietly as possible so as not to disturb those candidates who are still working. 13. Candidates must remain seated in their respective places during the last 15 minutes of the examination until permission is given by the Chief Presiding Official to leave the examination room. 14. QUESTION BOOKS and any other materials provided by the Presiding Official at the time of examination are not permitted to be taken away from the examination room It is the onus, duty and responsibility of the candidate to hand-in personally to the Presiding Official the question book and objective answer sheet and any other material given by the Presiding Official after the candidate has finished answering the questions. 15. You must stop writing immediately after the Presiding Official has announced that the allotted time is up. 16. Every certificate issued or made by the Institute shall, notwithstanding the payment of any fees and subscription remain the property of the Institute. N.B. In circumstances where you have not received your result notification slip one month after the examination date please write or contact MII Kuala Lumpur. A fee will be charged for the issue of a duplicate in the event of loss of the result notification slip.
